The International Opera Workshop Mallorca
The International Opera Workshop Mallorca welcomes all young professional Opera singers, singing students, as well as advanced amateur singers, to join this ambitious new project.
The International Opera Workshop Mallorca is aiming to give young singers the opportunity to work intensely on all skills required when preparing for an opera career, and to put their knowledge and skills in a real performance situation. Workshop participants will work mainly on acting and voice, which includes daily classes in subjects such as movement, dance, improvisation, interpretation, interaction between stage and orchestra, history of opera, dramaturgy, etc.
Furthermore, the workshop will offer discussions around the following topics: nutrition, fitness, auditions, modern opera staging, dealing with stage fright and pressure in the every-day-life of an opera singer. With this compact and specific course, we are offering an excellent opportunity for young singers to prepare themselves for future auditions and their career as opera singers.
All in all, the International Opera Workshop Mallorca is a tailor-made workshop for all those who wish to combine intense opera training with a winter escape-holiday in beautiful Mallorca. We offer a travel package including full board accommodation in a hotel right next to the theatre, island excursions and trips to Palma.
The Auditorium of Peguera is a professional theatre with quality equipment and a large stage, the perfect place to work on your performing abilities in situ. Besides, it is located within walking distance to the beach and to local restaurants and shops.
Application: In order to participate in the workshop, participants have to demonstrate their level of vocal technique and their ability to sing opera. Participants from Mallorca have to pass an audition. Candidates from Mallorca will be contacted at a later stage for an audition (beginning of January). Singers from outside Mallorca have to send in either a DVD with a minimum of 3 arias, or at least 3 internet links to different recordings of themselves singing and/or performing.
The application should come with a recommendation of a renowned singing teacher/vocal coach.
